Today Gary Bletsch and I finally got around to going for the Bay-breasted Warbler. We arrived about 09:00. We went over the gate and started down FR 500 when the BBWA sang on the FR 1900 near the junction of the two roads. It sang 3 times quite close together. I was not far into the woods but too far to see. After 2 further hours of waiting we gave up on seeing it. Russ Koppendrayer and the Kayamas had come while we were there. Russ left when we did, but the Koyamas were still trying.

We then went to Tenino for the Clay-colored Sparrow. The second we opened the car door we heard it singing. Had good scope views of it calling from the top of the Scotchbroom.

After a fruitless look for White-tailed Kite, we stopped in Seattle to look for the Hooded Oriole arriving at c 15:00. No joy in an hour of looking.
