Sunday July 09, 2006:
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Hemer Park and Quennell Road in Cedar.
Sixteen birders, including two visitors from Texas, found the following
thirty-four species:

Saturday July 08:
Several HOUSE WRENS are nesting and feeding at the end of Peterson Road in
Lantzville.
A family of CHIPPING SPARROWS, BEWICK'S WRENS, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS,
CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES and several RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES are visiting
feeders at the Backyard Wildbird & Nature Store in north Nanaimo.
Thursday July 06:
A PINE SISKIN was seen flying across Highway from the Ugly Dwarf Meadows
near the ESSO
gas station at Nanoose Bay.
Two BLACK SWIFTS were seen flying above Corfield Road heading west in
Parksville.
Wednesday July 05:
An adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen flying less than ten feet above the
median along ighway 19, about halfway between Qualicum Beach and Parksville.
A CALIFORNIA QUAIL is nesting in a hanging basket (there is twelve eggs in
the nest) in a yard in Parksville.
Tuesday July 04:
WESTERN SCRUB JAYS and MOURNING DOVES have been seen by the Bartlett family
along Interstate 5 in Washington.
Monday July 03:
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, BAND-TAILED PIGEONS, NORTHERN FLICKERS, EUROPEAN
STARLINGS, a DOWNY WOODPECKER, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES, HOUSE FINCHES,
PINE SISKINS and RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are visiting feeders in the 500 block
of Wheeler Avenue in Parksville.
Sunday July 02:
AMERICAN BITTERN, a PIED-BILLED GREBE, several WOOD DUCKS and a BULLOCKS
ORIOLE were seen and heard at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.
A large flock of BUSHTITS were spotted in a yard along Lost Lake Road in
Nanaimo.
Friday June 30:
A COOPER'S HAWK was seen chasing an BALD EAGLE near the end of Enos Lake at
the end of Schooner's Cove Drive in Nanoose Bay.
