A non-birder friend of mine once told me of some land he purchased that had a pond that had been stocked with fingerling fish of some sort. Right after he moved in he noticed a GBH and a Bald Eagle sharing the bounty and making rather significant withdrawals from the pond. He remembered wondering what would happen when the fish supply in the small pond was depleted.
A couple of weeks later he got his answer. The fish were all gone and the picked-over remains if the GBH were located near the edge of the pond.
