I'm replying to the list on this one because of the
stripped email addresses on Jack Siler's site and
because I don't recieve tweeters message in my inbox.
To answer Ric's question... I'm not sure about in the
Mt. Vernon area, but here in Corvallis (about 90 miles
south of Portland) several broods of American
Goldfinches have already fledged, within the last
week, and Lesser Goldfinchs fledged about 4 or so
weeks ago.

American Goldfinch is reputedly a late nester, but I'm
sure in Mt. Vernon they aren't more than a week or two
behind ours here in the Willamette Valley. I know
I've seen Adults feeding fledglings at the Montlake
Fill in late July and early August...
