The Sunday Bird Walk went to Neck Point Park in Nanaimo.
Eighteen birders, found the following twenty-eight species:

Saturday July 15:
Two BARRED OWLS were seen sitting on a gate and sign in the 3200 block of
Grant Road in Courtney.
200 LEAST SANDPIPERS, ten SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS, 50 WESTERN SANDPIPERS,
40 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, one GREATER YELLOWLEG and several BARN SWALLOWS
were seen at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.
Four COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen flying over the 2500 block of Glenayr Drive
in the Departure Bay area of Nanaimo.
Friday July 14:
A SPOTTED SANDPIPER, ten LEAST SANDPIPERS, three KILLDEER were seen at the
Drainage
Pond along Kaye Road in Parksville.
A yellow variant HOUSE FINCH was seen in a yard in south Wellington.
A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was seen in the watershed area behind Springwood
School along
Despard Road in Parksville.
Thursday July 13:
Four BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS were seen at feeders in Duncan.
Several CEDAR WAXWINGS were seen along Renz Road in Parksville.
Wednesday July 12:
A EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was seen in the 8000 block of Southwind Drive in
Lantzville.
Tuesday July 11:
A family of BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS are visiting feeders in the 200 block of
Dawkins Lane
in Nanaimo.
Monday July 10:
Six PINE SISKINS were seen along Glen Oaks Drive in Nanaimo.
GREAT BLUE HERON, TURKEY VULTURE, GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL, ROCK and BAND-TAILED
PIGEONS, BLACK SWIFTS, NORTHERN FLICKER, PILEATED WOODPECKER, WILLOW
FLYCATCHERS, NORTHWESTERN CROWS, COMMON RAVENS, WARBLING VIREOS, CEDAR
WAXWINGS, VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, TREE SWALLOWS, BARN SWALLOWS, AMERICAN
GOLDFINCH, PURPLE FINCH, HOUSE FINCH, HOUSE FINCH (yellow variant),
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, CHIPPING SPARROWS, BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS and a
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD were seen on a bird walk in the Top of the Bridge
Regional Park in Parksville.
Sunday July 09:
A COMMON NIGHTHAWK was heard in the Beachcomber area of Nanoose Bay.
A MERLIN, BARRED OWLS, OSPREY, TURKEY VULTURES, RED-TAILED HAWK, TOWNSEND'S
WARBLER, BELTED KINGFISHER, WESTERN TANAGER, BEWICK'S WREN, AMERICAN
GOLDFINCH, CHIPPING SPARROWS, and SONG SPARROWS were seen in Colliery Dam
Park in Nanaimo.
Satirday July 08:
A VIRGINIA RAIL was heard behind the 49th Parallel Grocery Store in Cedar
and a AMERICAN GOLDFINCH was spotted in the same area.
