Hello,
I made a successful trip to the Elks Heights burn area on Sunday and saw the
family of Black-backed Woodpeckers (M, F, 1J). I stayed for a little over
an hour and saw a nice list of birds including:
Hairy Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker (male w two juveniles)
Cliff Swallow
Mourning Dove
Black-headed Grosbeak
Western Tanager (pair)
Cassin's Finch
Black Phoebe
Dark-eyed Junco
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Pacific Slope Flycatcher
Olive-sided Flycatcher
The birds combined with the wonderful westerly view of the Cascades made for
great visit. Thanks to all who provided directions.
