Hi Tweeters,

Last night I met Carol Schultz at Boeing Ponds, she
asked if I could post our sightings. The ponds were
pretty quiet shorebirdwise in the evening, some
Greater Yellowlegs, and a few Spotted Sandpipers. She
said about a week ago a Cooper's Hawk likely caught
one of the spotties. A Peregrine flew over and kept
going north. We saw Charles, a local wildlife
photographer, he told us the ponds near Toysmith held
up to 6 Green Herons. We did see one Green Heron at
Boeing Ponds.

The Thomas ponds near Toysmith have changed a lot, but
so have the Boeing ponds, with the vegetation growing
great guns. The Thomas ponds have added some more
retention/mitigation ponds near the big new warehouse.
(Kent valley seems like it already has been paved
over but they find new places all the time to build,
they are weight loading a large landpiece across the
Green River from Green River Natural area in preps for
more building.) We saw up to three Green Herons here
and around a dozen tame Least Sandpipers. The
sandpipers were in one of the new ponds adjacent to
the new warehouse. One the north side of the
warehouse many dozen swallows were coursing over the
field, most Cliff Swallows with at least one each of
Violet-Green, and Tree and several Barn. Mount
Rainier was beautiful in the pink light of sunset.

This morning on a wire at the Carpenito farm fields
off of 277th was perched a Mourning Dove.

Boeing ponds from Orillia Rd, go north on the road at
the light at the KOA and they are at the big bend in
the road. (I don't remember the street number 54th or
something close to that. Directions aren't my strong
point, but I know someone will ask so here is my
attempt...)

Thomas ponds from 272nd exit off I-5 or 277 exit from
167 are on the first road to the east of 167 going
south, called Frontage Road, they are at the first big
bend in the road after you pass Toysmith.
