Yesterday I took my son on a charter salmon fishing trip out of La Push. I
also packed my bins. The boat, while not the best platform for viewing
seabirds from, was comfortable. There were a total of seven of us on the
boat, and we went out 18 miles. Sea state was mild, with 1-2 foot waves,
and a mild swell. It was also overcast, which helped for viewing. It was a
good day to be on the water.
Highlights of Birds seen included:
Black-footed Albatross (4)
Laysan Albatross (1)
Northern Fulmar (30+)
Sooty Shearwater (50+)
Probable Pink-footed Shearwater
Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel (12)
Pomarine Jaeger (1)
Common Murre (1200+)
Cassin's Auklet (250+)
Tufted Puffin (35+)
Good birding, and we both caught our limit.
A great day out.
