I like to read about Rainy Pass area sightings.

Back in August 27 & 28, 1985, I ran into lots of White-winged Crossbills around there. They were quite tame.

I followed the sound of a hammering woodpecker, the sound carrying very far. But I was somewhat disappointed in finding only a Hairy Woodpecker working an old stump. But it was the east-slope subspecies with clean white underparts. (What I really wanted was a three-toed Woodpecker).
