A RED KNOT was seen 18 Jul by Doug and Barb Schonewald at Perch Point
[Medicare Beach] on Potholes Reservoir in Grant Co WA. Potholes Reservoir is
southeast of Moses Lake. From I-90 in Moses Lake, take exit 179. Turn south
on WA 17 and go about 1 mile, then turn right onto Road M SE. Drive about 6
or 6.5 miles and turn right onto Road 6 SE. Go west about 3 miles. Here the
road goes up a steep hill and turns sharply right amongst a village of
trailer houses. Just past this sharp right, turn left onto an unimproved
dirt road toward Potholes Reservoir. Continue on to the gravel pit (aka
Perch Point or Medicare Beach). Right on the bottom of WA DeLorme 69, 6 and
7 or right at the top of page 53, 6 and 7.

On 4 Jul Dan Audet reports a light morph juvenile PARASITIC JAEGER was over
Lake Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai Co ID, between Carlin Bay and Mica Bay. Mica
Bay is along the east shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene. To get there, take US 95
south from Coeur d'Alene to milepost 421.4 and turn left (east) onto paved
Tall Pines (a.k.a. Putnam) Road. Go 0.6 mile to the "Y" and bear right
(south) onto Tall Pines Road. After another 0.7 mile, turn left (east) on
Loff's Bay Road which you can follow to the boat ramp on Mica Bay. ID
DeLorme 60, B-1.

Kerry Turley observed a single NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD along the Old Vantage
Hwy west of Vantage, Kittitas Co WA, near milepost 26 on 8 Jul. On 14 Jul,
Andy and Ellen Stepniewski report seeing 2 birds at this location, as did
Scott Downes on 20 Jul.

On 25 Jun Tom and Diane Weber found a singing CLAY-COLORED SPARROW on
Steptoe Butte in Whitman Co WA. They report it was still present on 5 Jul,
about 0.5 mile up the road from the picnic area, about 0.25 mile before the
cattle guard, on the north-facing side of the butte. Also on the butte are 1
or 2 BREWER'S SPARROWS and at least one BLACK-THROATED SPARROW, perhaps a
breeding pair. The BLACK-THROATED SPARROW(S) has (have) been seen at the
very top, near the microwave building about a quarter of the way up, and on
5 Jul Tom and Diane found one at the end of the lower parking lot at the
summit. The bird then dropped over the side of the Butte and it or another
was seen at several locations moving down the Butte. WA DeLorme 73, D-6.

Up to 3 adult BLACK-THROATED SPARROWS have been seen near Vantage, Kittitas
Co WA. First seen back on 3 Jun, Kerry Turley reports still seeing one as of
8 Jul along Huntzinger Road 1.8 miles south of I-90 OR 0.8 miles north of
Wanapum State Park. WA DeLorme 52, AB-1.

Bob Flores found 6 TRI-COLORED BLACKBIRDS at McCain's Ponds in Grant Co WA
on 17 Jul.

Good birding.
