I was up visiting San Juan Island this weekend. While visiting at one of
the shoreside homes I noted 3 large birds feeding on something on one of the
exposed just offshore low rock areas. There were 3 turkey vultures busy
tearing apart something that was reddish looking. It was not possible to
get a good look at what they were feeding on. Two of them flew up and over
the house before going back to their meal. After about 1/2 hour they all
left.
Meanwhile, a doe and her fawn were bedded down about 200 feet from the
house in the brush along the shoreline.
