This past weekend we road motorcycles across the N Cascade
Hwy. Saw two bald eagles, one in a tree and one on the beach
of a lake, and an eagle nest. Observed a red-tail hawk being harrassed
by a small bird. Then along the Wenachee River, river rafting,
we saw a mink laying on a rock in the river watching a duck
and her babies, overhead an osprey was circling. Saw many
osprey, about five nests (some in the top of old trees, some on
poles, one nest was five years old). One nest had young in it,
looked like three getting ready to fledge, flapping their wings a bit.
Inside a cave there were numerous swallow nests. Also, saw
blue heron, and in Twisp saw a night hawk.
