Subject: Parasitic Jaeger - Eloika Lake - PO County Shorebird update

Hello

This morning, about 6:00 AM, I saw an adult Parasitic Jaeger that flew up
and down Eloika Lake. I don't think it will be worth people's time to chase
as I last observed the Jaeger exiting the lake over the north end and did
not return the next ten minutes. Probably just a migrant passing by.

Also, a couple of Least Sandpipers probed the limited mudflats south of the
boat launch ramp.

I also checked on the shorebird habitat in Pend Oreille County and here is
what I found: Mudflats are beginning to be exposed along the east bank in
places like Flying Goose Ranch and near the Calispell Pow Wow grounds. There
were a few Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpipers, one Solitary
Sandpiper and a bazillion Killdeer. Sadly, the water has been drained from
the River Bend Marsh which has held excellent shorebirds the past two years.
Calispell Lake is still too high. White Pelicans are on the lake and the P O
River.

The road up to Bunchgrass Meadows is closed - and I just knew today I was
finally going to get my Spruce Grouse.

Good Day
