This morning I headed up the C-line in Capitol Forest. I stopped and spent a little time at the first major clearcut because it was a very birdy spot. I heard a singing Golden-crowned Sparrow at this spot. The song was repeated two times and I am quite familiar with it. On Ebird, this sighting is considered exceptional so I'm wondering if this is really an unusual sighting. I remember hearing a GC Sparrow singing in this same clearcut about 2 years ago during the summer.

Other notables include a flock of 5 Gray Jays and several fly-overs of Evening Grosbeaks.

Here's the complete list:

Red-tailed Hawk
Band-tailed Pigeon Mourning Dove Pileated Woodpecker Olive-sided Flycatcher Willow Flycatcher Pacific-slope Flycatcher Gray Jay Common Raven Red-breasted Nuthatch Bewick's Wren Swainson's Thrush American Robin Varied Thrush Cedar Waxwing MacGillivray's Warbler Common Yellowthroat Wilson's Warbler Western Tanager Spotted Towhee Song Sparrow White-crowned Sparrow Golden-crowned Sparrow Evening Grosbeak

Black-headed Grosbeak
American Goldfinch

Good birding,
