From: Roger Chapanis - rchapanis at hotmail.com

The Sarvey Wildlife Center, near Everett WA needs help. Each year this
center heals and rehabilitates hundreds of injured or orphanzed birds and
animals (see the list below).

If you can help, would you be willing to contact the center at
www.sarveywildlife.org, or would you be willing to pass this on to those who
might be interested ?

Warmly,

Roger

>Hi Everybody,
>
>After a sizzling start to summer we are full speed ahead with babies of
>all kinds, [except human ones]. I'll give you a quick run down of what
>we have done so far. First off we have :
>6 Falcons
>14 Bald Eagles...[this seems to be the year of the Eagle]
>37 Hawks
>47 Owls of all kinds
>2 Kestrels
>1 Osprey who has been released
>4 Coyote pups
>104 Squirrels...[the second batch is now coming in, we will do over 200
>Squirrels by the end of the year]
>2 Skunks that have been released
>3 Fawns remaining
>the Swifts have just arrived, keeping them alive is a major piece of
>work.
>plus the assortment of Possums, songbirds, Rabbits, and others.
>The Beaver we have will be wintered over since they usually stay with
>their mom for a year, he is too young to be on his own.
>
>We received a FedEx Peregrine Falcon from downtown Seattle. He actually
>walked into the FedEx building and asked to be shipped to us, he had
>heard we were a nice place and he wanted to come and stay with us. In
>reality he was one of the youngsters from Seattle who had lost his way,
>possible hit a window. He is doing fine now.
>

>A touching story written by Sandy about one of Sarvey's favorite
>daughters who has passed on, Sasha the cougar who lived her life in
>captivity because someone thought they could make a pet out of her. You
>can not take generations of instinct out of a wild animal by bottle
>feeding it and saying here kittie kittie.
>Thanks Sandy !

>I always give you a plea for money and this time is no different but the
>urgency is real. This is by far the most expensive year we have ever
>had. The cost of gas for the ambulance is averaging $2,000 a month. If
>we don't run the ambulance many will die and most are babies. We do not
>accept that. However we have had to cut down runs to vet hospitals once
>a day. We are buying a used portable x-ray machine for $3,000 that will
>save many lives and money just by not driving to the vets office. Our
>monthly bills right now exceed $15,000 per month and are pushing
>$20,000. We run on volunteers (we need more) with only a few underpaid
>staff. Funds are very low but moral is high so if you can, help us to
>help our wild brothers and sisters live their life. That's all we ask.
>Thank you for your continued support, we can't do this without you.
