The book "Bird Tracks and Sign: A Guide to North American Species", by
Mark Elbroch and Eleanor Marks, has a 93-page chapter on feather
identification. The book also includes information on tracks, pellets,
scat, nests, and signs of feeding. There is a similar book for mammals.
I bought my copies at the Seattle Audubon Nature Shop.

I have a friend who is interested in feathers and wonders if there's a
book that helps you, if you find a cool feather, identify what kind of
bird it came from. I've never seen such a thing...seems like that would
be a well neigh impossible thing to put together, but maybe someone's
attempted it....has anyone know of such a book?
