Subject: [Tweeters] Common Nighthawk in Seattle, 6-3-06

Tweeters,
Yesterday (Saturday) morning, I saw a Common Nighthawk in the University
District of Seattle. The bird was flying low among houses near the
intersection of NE 53rd St and 8th Ave NE. I only saw it for about five
seconds before it disappeared behind a house. This was at about 10:00 in
the morning.
In some parts of the country, Common Nighthawks are more common in suburban
areas than surrounding countryside. So I wasn?t too surprised to see one
there, but don?t know how common an occurrence this is around Seattle.
Good birding,
Matt Dufort
