this week's issue of Birds in the News is now
available, and includes a lovely photo of a brown
pelican, Pelecanus occidentalis. Especially
interesting this week is a report about a new avian
influenza vaccine that was created using another
deadly avian virus, Newcastle's disease virus, as the
vector. this vaccine is also easily administered in
the birds' drinking water.
