Yesterday evening (6/5/06), Mike McFadden and I met up
with Mark Houston in northern Lincoln County. Our
objective was do some owling.

As the light waned around 9:15, we began hearing
Poorwills calling in the lower end of Redwine Canyon.
We eventually had some nice flight views of a pair
POORWILLs that were fluttering around us.

A couple of miles into Sterling Vallley, we had a
responsive WESTERN SCREECH OWL. After viewing the owl,
we heard a small chorus of other screech owls that
sounded like a young family group.

In between the poorwill and the owl sighting, we
witnessed a lovely earth grazer type meteor that
slowly descended and gave us ample time to enjoy the
sight. Needless to say, we enjoyed a highly successful
beautiful evening.

On Tuesday (6/6/06), Michael Woodruff and I worked
several sites for chats. Although we came up empty on
this target, we did see Pacific Slope Flycatcher, Gray
Catbird, and VEERY.

Later on Peone Prairie, we coaxed a SORA out of the
thick marsh grass. The little rail scurried around
within ten feet of us. American Bitterns and Virginia
Rails called, but remained skillfully hidden.
