While doing a cruise around Protection Island yesterday afternoon, at about 3 p.m. on the south side of the island, one gull (out of hundreds) caught my eye. It was on top of a sign post (one of the posts that holds up one of the "Stay back 200 yards" signs). Its mantle was particularly dark. And its legs were startlingly pepto-bismal pink. Might have just been a very boldly colored Western. But might have been something else I hesitate to even suggest. At any rate, I wanted to post in case anyone else runs across an unusual gull out around Pt. Townsend/Sequim.
