Subject: [Tweeters] A ruckus and a baby robin from the sky

I was poking around in the Paradise Valley Conservation Area when there was
a robin ruckus. I was in some thick brush and couldn't really see much so I
backtracked under a spruce tree. Just as I entered the clearing under the
tree something fell at my feet. It was a baby robin, bleeding. I could hear
the robins hurling verbal abuse at the perpatrator but never did see who it
was that dropped the almost fledgling. I marked the spot, finished my survey
and when I returned about 10 minutes later the baby robin was gone. I had
vague notions of perhaps trying to bring it home to see if I could keep it
alive, but probably for the best either the robin crawled or was carried
off.

It is hard to resist the urge to meddle with things like wounded babies.
Yet, as cruel as it seems, babies are important food resources, and that is
one of the reasons parents have so many of them.
