This morning, Carol Ledford, Jan Skau, Jane Smith and
I drove up Washington state route 504 East of Castle
Rock to see the Adult breading plumage Bay-breasted
Warbler.

WOW!!!
Go see it if you can. It is relatively easy to spot.
Clear directions have been posted on Tweeters (mainly)
and OBOL.

We watched it off and on from about 8:30am to 11am.

Since I had not listened to a tape of this species
song, I was not expecting the song he presented us
with, lovely as it is.

It is a very short song. To my ears, the volume is
best described as quite soft, not unlike the softness,
tone and pitch of a Savannah Sparrow. It was easy to
hear when there was little to no talking among us
various birders there hoping for a good look.

The bird sings a lot. You just need to be listening
sharply for a high pitched soft singer.
