My cousin and I spent a drizzly morning birding, first, at the Montlake
Fill, where the highlights were a pair of WILSON'S PHALAROPES
on the shore of the main pond (next to a male CINNAMON TEAL), and
a heard-only VIRGINIA RAIL.
Secondly we got to Marymoor Park around 11 AM and enjoyed slightly
dryer weather but were unable to find any Ash-throated Flycatchers or
Baltimore Orioles; we did meet a birder who had *just* heard the
oriole at the point where the gated boardwalk to the lakeside leaves
the off-leash area. We loitered there for a while but found only a single
RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER, a couple of calling WILLOW
FLYCATCHERS, and a rather large flock of BAND-TAILED PIGEONS.
Around noon, in the Clise Mansion area, we had a brief look at a
single VESPER SPARROW on the ground before it flew into a nearby
evergreen where we again saw it briefly.
