I managed a trip to search for the Bay-breasted Warbler. Michael Hobbs
showed up and we searched the previously noted spots. Then we walked down FR 1909
about 150 feet. Michael's keen ear ( and knowing the call) helped us locate
the bird which popped up on top of a small Doug Fir for a brief glimpse. We
continued working the road - hearing but not seeing it - until it landed in an
alder quite close to us. For the next 15 - 20 minutes we got superb looks -
singing, foraging, in direct sunlight and in shade, shadows. Most of our
viewing was in the range of 10 - 20 feet distance. What a treat!
