I want to thank those who answered my question about the Nighthawk.

Now, I want to share an unusual event that I witnessed recently...

Monday afternoon I was walking my dog at Kenmore Elementary School, hoping to finish before it started to rain in earnest.

Woods surround the school so I had an open expanse of sky above me but I couldn't see far in any direction.

Our route took us around the perimeter of the school property. I heard a couple of crows harassing something in the woods to the east of me. I poked around in the woods to see what had them so worked up but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Back out on the playground, a Bald Eagle with a rather large stick in it's talons came into view from the trees to the north. The eagle was being chased by a Cooper's Hawk ( or it could have been a Sharpie) as they passes, the crows joined the chase and commences harassing the raptors. A few hundred feet further a small flock of Canada Geese flew in from the west and joined the chase, honking as loudly as they could.

What a sight, it made being caught in a thundershower well worth it.
