Last weekend, I went over to the Okanogan for my Breeding Bird Survey route through Tonasket and had my highest species count ever with over 90 species. Several species such as swallows and bluebirds had lower numbers because the only morning I had available was cold for much of the route and drizzly for several of the stops where these are seen the most. Grasshopper Sparrow numbers were down also with only one at one stop. Brewer's Sparrows were at more stops than usual. I had six empid. flycatchers for the whole time in the Okanogan with a Least on the route for the first time.

The Colville Plateau was good with over 60 species in about an hour's quick drive through. Stilts and avocets were at a long pond parallel to the road a couple miles south of Duley Lake. I heard Grasshopper Sparrows at a number of locations.
