Thanks to all the tweeters who responded to this Ohioians request for information for our July trip to Washington. Several people suggested I put out my target birds asking for advice

I'd like a list of what tweeters feel are the top 10 birding spots in the state for the 1st week of July. We are planning to bird both sides of the Cascades, ending with a pelagic trip from Westport.

My target birds are any Western birds not found in Ohio. To narrow the list, I've included the following top targets

Nothern Goshawk, Golden Eagle, Prarie falcon, Chukar, Common Poorwill, American Avocet, Townsends solitaire, Varied thrush, Williamsons, Red-naped, and Red breasted sapsuckers, Lewis, White headed, Three toed and Black-backed woodpeckers, American dipper, Hermit, Black-throated Gray and MacGillivrays warblers, western empid flycatchers, evening grosbeaks, red crossbills

I'm looking for the best location to find Alcids on Whidbey Island or the Puget Sound area. Also the best location for shorebirds the first week in July.

I have Oppermans A Birders Guide to Washington which has been extremely helpful in planning our trip.
