Tweets,

For the record, on my way home from a conference in Longview I detoured to the BAY-BREASTED WARBLER spot and it was still singing at the junction of 1901 and 1909 Tuesday evening at 5 PM June 13. I found several HERMIT WARBLERS singing about 1/4 mile down 1909 where the conifers are considerably taller. Got a good recording. There was a pair of WHITE-TAILED KITES along SR 505 at mp 11 east of Toledo in the big prairie at the junction with Maw Rd.

On Monday, June 12, I found 7 ROCK WRENS singing at two locations west of the Cascade Crest in King County on the crest of the divide between the Green River and the Greenwater, 5 on the south face of Kelly Butte and two more on a clear cut slope along FSR 7038 about two miles west of Windy Gap.

Kelly Butte has some great wildflowers, astounding views, and a distinctively east side feel, with a GOLDEN EAGLE overhead along with the Rock Wrens and several large TICKS, my first for the west side.

MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS are apparently nesting in silver snags at the crest just north of Windy Gap where FSR 7038 crests the ridge. I noted at least three pairs. There are at least hybrid TOWNSEND'S X HERMIT WARBLERS lower down along FSR 70 in King County and apparently pure Hermit's were noted at the end of the pavement on FSR 70 a week or so ago.
