I ventured to the lovely Magnolia district in Seattle to try to see the oriole today. After patiently waiting for the bird to show up at Magnolia and Montfort from 11:15-12:20 , I joined up with Keith Geller and his friend Alan and we headed down Raye St (northwest of the aforementioned Magnolia and Montfort junction) toward the water. We saw nothing and so headed back up the hill, and the bird was seen for about 25 seconds first coming across the road and then atop a roof. This was about 1/2 way up the hill around 12:45. Perfect view in perfect light. We all felt pretty lucky seeing it on the first try given the storied history that others have posted.
