Like Andy and Ellen Stepniewski, we also did not find the acorn woodpecker today at Ft. Simcoe, but we did find a nesting Say's Phoebe in the bunkhouse, who posed for us while flycatching. We also found a Bullock's oriole that would not come down low for photos, but who was still in reach of my big lens. We saw a bunch of Lewis's woodpeckers, including one pair going in and out of a nest hole behind the officers' quarters. There were also a lot of kestrels poking around scaring all the smaller birds.
