Sunday June 18, 2006:
A BARRED OWL was heard calling along the 100 block of Meridian Way in
Parksville.
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Linley Valley. Seventeen birders found the
following thirty-six species:

Saturday June 17:
A PERGRINE FALCON, being chased by a NORTHWESTERN CROW, was seen speeding
over
THE BACKYARD WILDBIRD & NATURE STORE at 6314 METRAL DRIVE in north Nanaimo.
A PILEATED WOODPECKER was spotted at suet feeders along Crestwood Place in
Nanaimo
Friday June 16:
Two CEDAR WAXWINGS and a WILLOW FLYCATCHER were seen in a field next to Renz
Road in Parksville.
Monday June 12
A pair of CALIFORNIA QUAIL long with ten to twelve fuzzy chicks were seen in
a yard along Ventura Drive in Nanaimo.
Sunday June 11:
An EVENING GROSBEAK, NORTHERN FLICKERS, BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS,
CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES, HOUSE SPARROWS, HOUSE FINCHES, RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCHES, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, SPOTTED TOWHEES, AMERICAN ROBINS,
BAND-TAILED PIGEONS and a male PILEATED WOODPECKER are visiting feeders
along Gaetjen Street in Parksville.
Saturday June 10:
A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen from the top of Little Mountain in Parksville.
Two WARBLING VIREOS, and a RED-EYED VIREO were seen in the watershed area
fields of
Parksville, off Erminskin Road in Parksville.
A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was seen along Blower Road in Parksville.
Wednesday June 07:
A flock of BROWN PELICANS were seen at Long Beach on the West Coast of
Vancouver Island.
