Hi Tweeters,

This morning my wife and I went to Fort Simcoe looking for the Acorn
Woodpecker. We got there at about 10:40. Since the picnic area was
already buzzing with activity, we headed west along the gravel trail. Near
the south-most officer's house, I spotted the Acorn Woodpecker flying away
from us. We both got great looks at it through the scope as it perched in
a Garry Oak tree and preened for ten minutes. I was able to get many
photos of it. They are in the new photos folder on my website.

It is a wonderful bird to finally get in Yakima County!
