The Whimbrels at Seaside are non-breeders. The seem to be
larger numbers than usual this season (usual a half-dozen
or so), but summering Whimbrels somewhere along the coast
is not unusual.

While at Seaside, OR two weeks ago, I counted 24 Whimbrels in one flock
foraging on the beach at water level. I am not all that into shorebird
migration chronology, but would these be birds that have already bred moving
south or are they still moving north?
