hello all:

if you haven't yet done so, there's probably still time to see the three fledgling peregrine falcons at snoqualmie falls. they appear to be two falcons and a tiercel (based on relative size). the male fledged two weeks ago today and the females will be two weeks on wednesday. the last two days have been aerial practice, raids, dive bombings and other general mayhem. they are particularly bold this year it seems. the male often posts himself on a rock about ten yards from the upper sidewalk (entirely fills the field at 45x). two of the chicks were on the roof of the lodge this morning. one was sleeping on a rock about 20 yards from the end of the lower sidewalk late today. a couple of turkey vultures were through in the afternoon with out much response, but a few minutes later mr. osprey cruised through but was escorted off the property by mom and dad. yesterday the male was on the roof of the gazebo covering the observation deck hollering for the lunch wagon to show up.

it looks as though they may hang around for awhile longer this year. last year they weren't nearly as evident after about a week or ten days, as i recall it. still, if you want to see them, it'd be prudent to get up to the falls asap.

regards,
