Just returned from the WOS conference (great birding, great field trips, and great leaders. A real fun time). On my way over last Thursday, Larry Moss and I stopped by a burn that occurred last year in the Winthrop area and had a LEAST FLYCATCHER and 2 WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKERS. The following are directions to the burn that were posted by Stefan Schlick last year:

To get to the spot, take E. Chewuch Rd north out of Winthrop, turn left at Bear Creek Rd heading east (this is the turnoff to Pearrygin Lake SP) and follow the road for 3.6mi. Turn left onto FR100 and left again 0.4mi after that. Park near the gate (after just another 0.1mi) and walk the gravel/dirt road until you get to a fork, take the right road and continue until you hit the burn and 2 blueish colored outhouses. This is an easy 0.75mi walk one-way

The Least Flycatcher was near the gate where we parked, and the woodpeckers were about 1/4 mile in toward the burn area.

On the way home today I stopped by Wilson Creek and had 3 FERRUGINOUS HAWKS, on the cliffs east of town along Kanniwai Road.
