Good and bad news from my bicycle ride to Seward Park yesterday afternoon. My friend pointed out an Osprey (which turned out to be 3, with some interspecies rivalry and calling back and forth going on), and a pair of Bald Eagles. Before entering the park, we were traveling a long the waterfront on the bike/walk path. I heard a rattle in a tree and immediately stopped because I recognized it as an oriole call. I didn't have he Bullock's Oriole on my year list yet, and wanted to verify. I looked up into the tree for a couple of minutes, trying to locate the bird. It rattled once or twice more and I finally spotted it. And to my surprise it was a nice Hooded Oriole instead! Very nice bird, and species #175 for the year! Unfortunately a short bit later, I pulled my left hamstring and have been in a good amount of pain ever since!

I did stop by a friend house in Ballard last night, and heard the pair of Western Scrub Jays that frequent his neighborhood near 65th & 8th. Which nicely made for species #176 for the year list. One good trip to the coast should pop me over my goal of 200 for the year. Good birding!
