Hi all,

Some time ago, I reported a Red Breasted Sapsucker nest in a snag along the old railroad trail from the trailhead starting by the Mount Si Golf Course in Snoqualmie. I had a link to an image I recorded of some intense interaction between the nesting Sapsuckers and two starlings apparently intent on usurping the cavity. I had not been back there for some time until last night, and decided with some trepidation to see if the sapsuckers had been successful. Turns out...they were! When I put the binocs on the entrance hole to the cavity, I was greeted by a pretty large nestling poking its head out seeming quite interested in its surroundings - and actively begging for food. One of the adults quickly completed the picture by delivering tidbits at least five times during the time I watched. I couldn't tell if there was more than one nestling, but I could only see one getting fed. During the time I watched, there were no starlings around any of the group of snags in the area.
