Hello Birders,

We have just updated our website with many new photos taken this past weekend at the WOS Conference that was held in Republic. As mentioned before in our last posting the conference was a great success with great field trips, birding and the overall good area that is rich and diverse with bird species, etc. It was an enjoyable week of birding for us,as well as contributing our skills with others. We greatly enjoyed birding at relatively new areas to us,especially the large, expansive Little Pend Orielle NWR located east of Colville in Stevens Co. This location offered one of the most diverse areas for birding and seems to have great potential for future visits at this relatively under birded area! Our main highlight of the convention was of course the ALDER FLYCATCHER along Kipling Rd.,which we thoroughly documented with tape recordings and photographs of which 8 photos of the bird have been placed onto our recent gallery. It was remarkable and exciting that this bird showed up at the same exact spot and location than 4 years ago to almost the same date! It was also great for us to show several birders the bird and get excellent comparisons with several nearby duller and browner Willow Flycatchers,as well as having a totally different song.

In addition to the Alder Flycatcher photos we have updated our recent gallery with other photos from various field trips during the conference,as well as on our own. These photos include a bright Willow Flycatcher at the Beaver Lake Campground,a Wilson's Phalarope near a nestsite along Molson Rd., 2 separate Vesper Sparrows, 2 different Great Gray Owls, a male Williamson's Sapsucker, a LEAST FLYCATCHER,White-breasted Nuthatch and a male Yellow-headed Blackbird at the Pend Orielle NWR. A Snowshoe Hare was also photographed at very close range, where they are quite tame at the Beaver Lake Campground.
