I borrowed a copy of Birds of Japan through Interlibrary loan for a
trip I took this last February. It's out of print, and unless you're
fast when inexpensive copies become available, you will pay close to
$200 for it.

I found it quite good in most places, but then I supplemented it with
hours of research on the Internet to obtain more current information,
specifically concerning gulls and winter buntings.
