Hi Everyone--

Today 6/25, Marcia Marvin and I decided it was time to visit the
Bay-breasted Warbler. We arrived at the FR1901/FR1909 crossing around 7am,
and heard it singing before we could even get out of the car. It liked
singing from the tops of the firs along FR1901 from the intersection
downhill for maybe 50 yards, but also crossed the road to the east, where it
was invisible. We got many excellent views over the next hour, and were
joined by only one other person, who from the looks of it got some pretty
impressive video. We also noted healthy numbers of singing SWAINSON'S
THRUSH, but we saw none of them. By 8, we moved east, birding our way across
the county line to Johnston Ridge. Below the visitor center, we watched a
ROCK WREN sing and flutter about. I haven't seen many of these in Skamania
County, but the habitat looks quite fine.

On our way back to the searing Portland heat, we counted four OSPREY and a
BALD EAGLE from I-5.
