June 28, 2006. Only a few interesting birds have been reported in Spokane
County during the past two weeks. The WOS Conference & hot weather has
meant little local birding.

The only new county year bird was a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW bringing the group
year list to 224. I think the only nesting bird left to find is Blue

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was on private property south of Spokane on Silver
Hill June 22 and again June 27.

The LEAST FLYCATCHER was singing still this morning at Turnbull NWR at the
first aspen grove from the entrance gate. (.2 mile along the entrance
road). The gate opens at 6:00 am.

Two CASPIAN TERNS were at Eloika Lake June 25. I wonder if these are the
same two terns just showing up at different lakes. (Turnbull, Williams,
Fishtrap & Eloika)

Near the county line, but in Lincoln County, a protective BARN OWL is at the
railroad overpass between I-90 and Fishtrap.
