Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

A probable LESSER NIGHTHAWK was heard calling June 21-22 over Beverly Beach
Campground north of Newport. It could not be relocated. On June 26 a MANX
SHEARWATER was seen off Barview Jetty at Tillamook Bay. A GREAT-TAILED
GRACKLE is now being seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A singing BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER was seen June 22 at Calliope Crossing north of Sisters.

HEERMANN?S GULLS are now moving northward along the coast. The first
southbound shorebirds are now being reported. Normally scarce in the
Willamette Valley COMMON NIGHTHAWKS are being seen in many areas.

On June 24 a flock of ten BLACK SWIFTS was at New River, south of Bandon. A
singing AMERICAN REDSTART was seen June 22 south of Newport along North
Beaver Creek Road at milepost 9. On June 23 a SCRUB-JAY was at a Cape Meares
Village feeder.

A group of ten SANDHILL CRANES is now being seen from the east side viewing
platform on Sauvie Island. The Sandy River Delta, east of Portland has been
spectacular. Lately three pairs of EASTERN KINGBIRDS, a pair of WESTERN
KINGBIRDS, nesting HARRIER and SNIPE, several singing RED-EYED VIREOS, and
at least one GRASSHOPPER SPARROW have been reported. The LEAST FLYCATCHER
continues to be seen along the Pintail Marsh Boardwalk at Ankeny NWR. On
June 24 a CLARK?S GREBE, two WESTERN KINGBIRDS, and a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK
were at Finley NWR. On June 28 a PRIAIRIE FALCON was at Fern Ridge
Reservoir.

On June 28 a BAND-TAILED PIGEON was seen in Morrow County south of Heppner.
