Some have asked... Yes, the Clay-c Sparrow was singing away at 7:45am Thurs.
Directions: I-5 exit 88; eastward 5 mi on Old Hwy 99; R (north) Melville
(after Violet Prairie Rd, not pre-signed); .4 mi to fenced corner of scotch
broom patch in NW corner of Rock Prairie (alpaca farm). Bird sings from
power lines along gravel lane on right, hangs out in scotch broom and lower
branches of mature firs. [Also accessed via Capitol Blvd/Old Hwy 99 from
Tumwater/Oly Airport, westward thru Tenino and ~2 mi W thru alpaca farm and
mima mounds.]
Also present: Lazuli Bunting in same corner, W Tanager, Blk-h Grosbeak, Y-r
Warbler, bushtit, Bewick's Wren, Willow Flyctr galore, etc.
