I took a visiting friend down to Wenas Creek on Wednesday, and we saw
something along Audubon Rd that we couldn't identify. We thought they
were orange flowers at first, but when we stopped to look, they turned
out to be bright orange, prickly growths on the green leaves and stems
of a plant. I'm guessing the growths are either galls or a fungal
infection, but I don't know. I'm hoping one of you can tell me what it
is. I will send a couple of photos to anyone who is interested.

Bird-wise, we had a good day despite the heat. We found most of the
expected species, including a White-headed Woodpecker and a Gray
Flycatcher at Wenas Campground.
