Hi all,

Last week I spotted a Snowy Owl NW of Wilbur as per my post. My very next trip through the area, I spotted some Common Goldeneyes at the pond on the corner of Barker Canyon Rd and Hwy 174 in Douglas Co. I was able to count about 20 of them there. I went on north on that road for a couple of miles but all the other water was frozen over.

Continuing west, I was thrilled to see a mostly white owl sitting on a fence post at about MP 8.8, Hwy 174. I found a spot to turn around and pull over about 0.1 miles from the owl and was able to observe it for several minutes before another car spooked it and made it slowly fly north over a low ridge and disappear. It appeard to have very little black on it - very much like the adult male illustration in Sibley's.

This is another area I have been scouting for the last 5 or 6 years every winter and finally spotted one. :')

Best wishes,
