Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 2. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On February 26 a BEWICK?S SWAN was seen at Lower Klamath NWR. The FALCATED
DUCK continues to be seen. On February 25 it returned to the Coburg RV Park
pond. The male TUFTED DUCK on Meares Lake continues to be seen. Two SNOWY
OWLS continue at the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

CINNAMON TEAL numbers are now increasing in the Willamette Valley. Migrant
MOURNING DOVES are now arriving along the south coast, and TREE SWALLOWS are
now moving through Central Oregon.

On February 21 a BARROW?S GOLDENEYE was at Waldport. There are now two
BARROW?S in Astoria. The three EMPEROR GEESE are still being seen near
Astoria.

A ROSS?S GOOSE was seen February 28 at Collins Beach on the east side of
Sauvie Island. That day a RED-THROATED LOON was on the Columbia River near
the Portland Airport. On February 26 a group of six REDPOLLS came to a
Southwest Portland feeder. A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen February 25 at Powell
Butte Park in Gresham. A RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was seen February 25 at the
Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove.

The flock of at least 48 TRUMPETER SWANS are still being seen in the Airlie
Road area south of Monmouth. The Eugene MOCKINGBIRD continues to be seen. A
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was in Eugene February 25.

On February 24 a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was at Klamath Falls. SNOW and
ROSS?S GEESE are now gathering at Lower Klamath NWR. Some have already moved
over to the fields south of Burns.
