hi tweeters-in reply to ? re: owls at fir island:-we sighted 2 snowy owls from the outer dike at the wiley skagit access w/out a scope-not close in(out by the shoreline)-+3 active short -eared owls at the north fork access-they were quite far along the trail to the left+ several harriers were fighting the short- eared owls.as well am.pipits,western meadowlarks near the north fork access-meadowlarks singing all along the road.jensen access had dozens of bald eagles ,thousands of snow geeese near the hayton access-this was between 2pm+5pm today-hope this info helps--as an addendum, we were at boundary bay ,b.c.2 weeks ago and saw 13 snowy owls up close+ personal-about 1/4mile e. of 72 st entrance- i saw recently there are 16 snowy owls there-people were taking pics about 10 feet from some of the snowy owls -definitely a positive owl experience!!!check birding in b.c.-vancouver rare bird alert). cheers,maxine reid-tulalip bay, baconmf at verizonmail.com
