On Sunday, March 5th, the adult MUTE SWAN was on the main pond at
the Steigerwald Lake NWR, near Washougal, Clark County. I saw the bird at
12:30 as I headed to Vancouver for an Eagle Scout award ceremony and the
swan was still there when I drove back at 4:30. It is best seen by
parking along the shoulder of Highway 14 at approximately milepost 18.
You may have to go east a few hundred feet to gain elevation to see over
the Reed-canary Grass if the bird is close to shore.
