Hi Tweeters,

I did some casual birding in the Kent valley Sat and
Sunday, (today). Yesterday I saw the Say's Phoebe at
Boeing Ponds and considered posting but did not.
Today I more than likely saw the same bird but in a
new location. I saw a Say's Pheobe today at the Kent
Ponds, the upper area off of Russell Road. There is a
path there that more or less parallels Russell Road
The Pheobe was patroling wide and far in this area,
calling quite frequently. It was missing a right
central tail feather or two, leading me to wonder if
it got away from something at Boeing Ponds and decided
to vacate over 212th to the Kent Ponds meadow. I
checked Boeing ponds after my visit at Kend Ponds just
to make sure there wasn't two birds. No Pheobe there
today.

At Kent ponds I also saw a small flock, up to 12 birds
of swallows fly in and around overhead. Nice surprise
but made me remember why it took me so long to learn
the swallows. They are positively dizzying to track
with bins high in the air trying to ID them. Certain
of 2 Barn Swallows and the rest probable Tree
Swallows, I didn't see any big white saddles over the
rump.

To get to Kent Ponds, take Orillia Rd/212th exit off
I-5, head east and make a hard right onto Russell Road
just past going over the bridge over the Green River.
The main parking area is about a mile down on the
left. For Boeing Ponds instead of hard right on
Russell turn left at the next light at the KOA (I
think it is 56th), Boeing ponds is at the big bend in
the road, on the right.
