Hi Guy and all

The Seattle Audubon Nature Shop has greatly expanded their line of optical
goods and has most of the scopes you mention, and in general I have found
their prices competitive (plus you get to help support a local conservation
organization). Russ Steele the shop manager is knowledgable about the optics
and very willing to help people out.

But I think your other suggestion sounds interesting.
